Week 7 - Troubleshooting And Maintenance
This week reinforced me on the importance of going through a structured process of troubleshooting rather than making guesses. To learn how to recognize the problem, how to test possible causes, and how to verify solutions that will help save time and solve other problems. The windows tools we discussed such as Task Manager, Device Manager and Event Viewer demonstrated to me the amount of insight that can be gained in diagnosing system or hardware failures. I also discovered that a lot of issues, like conflicts with drivers or failure to update, have patterns, which become familiar through experience.
The other important lesson was the importance of preventive maintenance. Backups, regular updates and monitoring can minimize significant systems failures. The virtualization introduction was also noteworthy, as it enables testing in safe settings, which is particularly helpful when it comes to cybersecurity.
